4th Ojai Valley Century, this time Full Century but have also done Hammerhead. I am a mountain biker living in Ojai but dust off my old road bike once a year for the Ojai Century because its such a great local event. I’ve ridden the Century with different friends but this year on my own…but that’s just it….you’re never alone on the Ojai Century. It is a really well run event with great support all round and for a good cause. The food at the rest stops is great – especially the popsicles in Santa Paula but it was too cold for these this year!
I rode the Century on my own but was able to pickup on several groups of riders throughout the day and chat. Everyone’s having a great time and there’s a real sense of accomplishment because there’s climbs, flat roads and several different scenery changes throughout. There are just the right amount of food rest stops and the sandwich lunch at Patagonia is just at the right point of the ride.
Not a criticism but you have to be on your game watching out for some of the road signs. Some of the signs into Montecito and out of Ventura were easy to miss – I pretty well know the route by now but saw riders ahead of me sail by some of the signs more than once.
The website was better this year than in the past, food not quite as good as I remember it but way better than you should expect for a ride! I also preferred the Mob Shop in Ojai esplanade as the start/finish line but the space at the Winery is great.

Wow! This ride was absolutely amazing. I completed the mid century ride. The sights were beautiful and the ride was super smooth. The signs were very visible and easy to follow. There was also a good variety of food at the end. I will definitely do this again next year! Thank you!

This was my first mid-century ride and I loved it. It was very beautiful and scenic despite the gloominess. It was a smooth ride and they had a great variety of snacks , food , drinks.

Great food at rest stops. I really appreciated the smaller portion sizes; I never want to commit to eating a half bagel or banana during a ride, but the bite sized portions allowed me to feast on a larger variety of snacks.

The only negative comment I have is with the route markings; turns were frequently marked at the far side of an intersection, leaving little or no time to set up a turn. This was especially problematic when there were late marked left turns across busy traffic. Signs need to be before, not after, the intersection.

As my first distance ride (I did a metric century), this event made my personal introduction to road cycling very enjoyable. The ride was quite scenic despite the June gloom and the cool weather undoubtedly aided me on the climbs which were quite manageable. Most of all, the volunteers for the event were extremely awesome, providing snacks, direction, and aid whenever its needed.

Will definitely do it again and will try to get more folks to join next year!

I rode the full century route and it was great! The rest stations were top notch and everyone was very friendly. There was lots of food and water (stations every 15-20 miles) and decent route markings. My only minor gripe: the last section between Santa Paula and Ojai (3 routes take this part) barely had a bike lane and there was a fair amount of traffic. Overall though, I’m very happy with the experience.

Really enjoyed the ride. No negatives. Best course markings I have ever seen. Friendly people everywhere. Love how the different courses overlapped for many miles. Food at the end was excellent. Cannot think of anything negative to say!

I rode the “Hammerhead” 100 mile course. IMO this is the “signature” route. Wheeler Gorge is beautiful and the following climb leads to exceptional vistas. The downhill return has wide sweeping curves and ample shoulder space. The grades are always gentle. Overall the ride features broadly diverse settings. Rollers traversing the drainage into the pretty Casitas Reservoir, a long beachside ride, the agricultural Oxnard Plain and Santa Clara River Basin, a pleasant climb through lush riparian Santa Paula Canyon to an open expansive plateau, and finally a fun, gentle, non-technical descent back into Ojai Valley. Expect a few rough roads, particularly in the Santa Paula area.

This was my 4th year riding the Ojai. As always, it was a very pleasurable experience. Staff was great, after ride food and celebration was great. The only thing I noticed that was different from previous years was not seeing SAG patrol the course as much as previous years. Fortunately I didn’t have any issues and was NOT stranded anywhere, just something I noticed.

The Metric Cenutry ride route was great with plenty of ocean views. Start time and weather perfect for a longer ride. The popsicle stop was much appreciated as the sun came out. The bike path was a bit rough towards the end but quite manageable. I plan to ride again next year.

Fun ride with spectacular vistas! A few tight turns on downhill with traffic, but all manageable for average rider and well worth it! The staff and participants were great. We stayed for a couple of nights and enjoyed Ojai and Ventura. We’ll definitely ride again next year!

Overall good experience. Great staff and help at all rest stops. Rest stops were well placed and very well maned.
Would have been nice to put more miles in Sant Barbara instead of some to the busy roads in the Oxnard area.
Course was well marked. Could have used a few more signs between Ventura and Santa Paula but overall well marked course.
I will be back for sure!!
