rode with a group of 9 riders. we had 12 flat tires. one part of the course merges into a busy highway, we had to stick together for safety. we had paper routesheets and course was not marked. other than that, the scenery was gorgeous. staff was very friendly and the cost was insanely low. 2017’s course is identical to the grand tour double century. i’d do it again, but will use at least a pair of continental gatorshells

This is THE low cost CTC double century, with awesome volunteers, and has always been a fun, end-of-the-year ride. The course is not marked, but it is easy to follow the route sheet everywhere except leaving the Ojai area, and if you miss a turn there, you can basically just descend and head west and get back on the route towards Lake Casitas and Casitas Pass. It is one of the easiest double century routes. While not all of the rest stops are stocked with anything but water and powder supplements, the ride will take your lunch bag forward to the lunch stop for you, and many of the stops are staffed by volunteers who supplement the bare bones offerings with their own goodies, particularly the BullShifters club which has staffed the penultimate Rincon stop with first class offerings that would meet anyone’s needs.
