Castle Crags can be compared to the levels of Mt. Tamalpais or Lake Tahoe, in terms of how goreous the area is. Too many sceneries that makes you want to stop and take pictures while up in the mountains! Flowing rivers and creeks, lush trees covering parts of the course with wild switchbacks, perfect for pictures or videos. high and wide open overlooking views of areas with beautiful mountains adding to the scenery.
It rained the day before last year’s event and washed out most of the turn signs, which got me a quite a lot of the other riders miss turns, since they fixed the issue by placing plain ~5x5in white paper randomly near the turn areas. It was a bit difficult to see them since they were tiny, non reflective, nor neon colored. Sometimes you will find them on a stop stign, sometimes past the turn, or even sometimes on the other side of the road. I know the staff tried as best as they could, but the remedy just lacked consistency and even made some riders not complete the route.
Quite a few damaged roads on flat, uphill and even downhill paths. Felt like cobblestone. But at least the signs on the rough downhills were very clear and warns everyone ahead of time. Thank you for making those descents safe.
Overall, i believe i will go back again if my friends decides to go. Again, very beautiful place! Thank you for making this event available to everyone!

This truly is a century ride with just the right amount of everything! Enjoy incredible views of some of nature’s finest scenery as you ride this fabulous route.
We will be offering five ride options this year: Super Century, Full Century, Mountain Metric Century, Valley Metric Century, and a Half-Metric Century. The rides will follow one or both of two loops – one to the south of Mt. Shasta and one to the north.
All rides start and end in the beautiful Mount Shasta City Park. Here, the headwaters of the Sacramento River emerge from the base of Mount Shasta in its purest and clearest form. You will be treated to the best tasting drinking water the world has to offer! Bring a jug with you and fill up for later! With grass and shady trees, relax along the river in this heavenly location and enjoy what we hope is one of the most enjoyable bike rides you ever experience!
